Our Goals

Housing

Housing Security

The Housing Subcommittee works to reduce the number of people becoming unhoused in Sacramento County. The group is actively working to determine the specific policies they will advocate for to reduce the number of evictions in census tract 44.01 by 50%. The committee is focused on identifying effective strategies and approaches to address eviction prevention and improve housing stability in the area.

Food Access

The Food Access Subcommittee works to improve food access in the community. The group has completed a visioning process, which identified the following themes as critical to local food system work: Food Access (economic barriers and general), Culturally Responsive Foods, Community/Gardens, Education, Health, and Policy and Planning.

The Community Food Action Plan (CFAP) RFA (Request For Application) has identified a consultant to work on a case study model to inform the CFAP.  The Food Access Subcommittee’s work can help inform the case studies. The consultant will join the Food Access Subcommittee as a source of subject matter expertise, technical assistance, and to identify and recruit the case studies for the CFAP. The completion of the case studies and drafting of the CFAP are anticipated in 2025.

Mental health

Mental Health

The Mental Health Subcommittee works to reduce barriers to physical and mental healthcare. Through collaboration with Managed Care Plans (MCPs) such as Anthem, Health Net, Kaiser Permanente, and Molina, the group will utilize data to better understand how 44.01 census tract residents utilize mental health and behavioral services.

In partnership with the CHIP Steering Committee, MCPs and Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) programs, a communications campaign to raise awareness of the 9-8-8 emergency line will be launched in 2025.
