Why it Matters
Across Sacramento County, thousands of households face eviction each year, impacting families, neighborhoods, local businesses, and public systems. Many evictions stem from temporary financial hardship or disputes that could be resolved with the right support and early intervention.
How Eviction Prevention Works.
When people receive support before a housing crisis escalates, they are more likely to remain housed and avoid long-term financial hardship. Our solution is a two-pronged approach including rental assistance and right to counsel.
Rental Assistance
Short-term financial support helps renters catch up on missed payments before the situation escalates. For many families, a single one-time payment is enough to stabilize their housing long term.
Right to Counsel
Landlords almost always have legal representation. Most tenants don’t.
